Set up and use the ARInsights connector for ChatGPT

Connect ChatGPT to ARchitect to ask about your analyst data in plain language — influencers, interactions, insights, premium content, and projects. Covers Developer Mode setup, OAuth, example prompts, and troubleshooting. Read-only.

The ARInsights connector for ChatGPT lets you ask questions about your ARchitect data in plain language and get answers in a ChatGPT conversation. ChatGPT reads your analyst relations records directly from ARchitect, so you can prepare for briefings, review what analysts have said, and research coverage without building a report or exporting data.

With the connector, you can:

  • Find industry analysts and influencers by firm, coverage area, location, or group, and review their profiles and rankings.

  • Review briefings, inquiries, and other interactions, including who attended, which projects and coverage areas they touched, and the summary.

  • Search insights captured from analyst conversations by firm, analyst, category, sentiment, and date.

  • Search premium content, including analyst research, blogs, quotes, and X and LinkedIn posts, plus content your organization has uploaded.

  • See your analyst relations projects, their status, leads, and the analysts and firms involved.

  • Look up the ARchitect users and participants who lead and attend interactions and projects.

The connector is read-only. ChatGPT can read your ARchitect data but cannot create, change, or delete anything in ARchitect.

Example prompts

Analyst relations managers

  • "Prepare me for Thursday's briefing with Sarah Johnson at Forrester: her coverage, our last three interactions with her, and anything she has published about us this quarter."

  • "Which analysts cover cloud security, and when did we last speak with each of them?"

  • "Summarize the negative insights we captured about pricing in the last 90 days."

AR and communications leaders

  • "What have Gartner analysts said about our company in research and quotes since July?"

  • "Compare how analysts talked about us versus our top two competitors this quarter."

  • "Which analyst relations projects are active, who leads them, and which firms are involved?"

Product marketing and executives

  • "Give me a one-page summary of what analysts said in our briefings about the new platform launch."

  • "Which analysts in Boston cover AI agents?"

  • "List the most recent content from IDC analysts about our market."

Before you get started

  • ARchitect access: you need an active ARchitect user account. ChatGPT can see only the data your ARchitect account can see.

  • ChatGPT plan: adding the connector requires a paid ChatGPT plan that supports Developer Mode, such as Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, or Edu. On Business, Enterprise, and Edu workspaces, an admin may need to allow custom connectors before you can add one.

  • One site per connection: if you have access to more than one ARchitect site, each connection uses the site you sign in to. To query a different site, disconnect and connect again (see Switch sites).

  • Fields that aren't available: ChatGPT can use only the fields listed under Supported ARchitect data. If you ask for something else, ChatGPT should tell you it isn't available.

  • Third-party terms: your use of ChatGPT is governed by your agreement with OpenAI. Review your organization's AI policies before connecting.

Allow custom connectors in your workspace (admins)

On ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, and Edu, a workspace admin controls whether members can add custom connectors.

  1. In ChatGPT, open Workspace settings and go to the apps and connectors permissions.

  2. Allow members to use Developer Mode and add custom connectors, or add ARInsights for the workspace and publish it to members.

Menu names in ChatGPT change from time to time. If you can't find these settings, see OpenAI's help center for the current location.

Turn on Developer Mode

  1. In ChatGPT, click your profile icon and open Settings.

  2. Go to Apps & Connectors > Advanced settings.

  3. Turn on Developer Mode.

Add the ARInsights connector

  1. In Settings > Apps & Connectors, click Create.

  2. Enter ARInsights as the name and, optionally, a description such as "Analyst relations data from ARchitect."

  3. Enter https://mcp.arinsights.com/mcp as the MCP server URL.

  4. Set Authentication to OAuth.

  5. Select the checkbox confirming you trust this application, then click Create.

  6. Sign in with your ARchitect username and password, choose the site you want to use if prompted, and click Allow.

ARInsights now appears in your list of connectors.

Use the ARInsights connector

  1. Start a new chat.

  2. Click the + button in the message box, choose Developer Mode (or More), and turn on ARInsights. Connectors are off by default in each new chat.

  3. Ask your question in plain language. Mentioning ARInsights or ARchitect in your prompt helps ChatGPT choose the connector.

  4. ChatGPT shows when it calls ARInsights. Expand the call to see the filters it used and the records it received.

Best practices

  • Be specific. Name the firm, analyst, coverage area, or date range you care about ("Forrester, last 90 days") instead of asking about "analysts" in general.

  • Start small. Ask about one analyst or one firm first, then broaden.

  • Ask ChatGPT to show its sources. It can include links to premium content and the titles and dates of interactions and insights so you can check them in ARchitect.

  • Check important facts before you share them. ChatGPT summarizes your data, and summaries can be wrong. Confirm key details in ARchitect before you send them to executives or analysts.

  • Use a reasoning model for multi-step questions, such as briefing preparation or competitor comparisons.

Switch sites

Each connection uses one ARchitect site. To use a different site:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps & Connectors > ARInsights and click Disconnect.

  2. Click Connect and sign in, choosing the other site.

Disconnect the ARInsights connector

  1. In ChatGPT, go to Settings > Apps & Connectors.

  2. Select ARInsights and click Disconnect. To remove it completely, choose Delete.

Troubleshooting

I can't find the Create button

Developer Mode is off, or your workspace admin hasn't allowed custom connectors. Turn on Developer Mode, or ask your admin.

Sign-in fails or loops back to ChatGPT

Check that the URL is exactly https://mcp.arinsights.com/mcp. Sign out of ChatGPT, sign back in, and try connecting again. If your company uses a firewall or VPN, ask IT whether connections to mcp.arinsights.com are allowed.

ChatGPT doesn't use ARInsights

Make sure ARInsights is turned on for this chat from the + menu, and mention ARInsights or ARchitect in your prompt.

ChatGPT returns no results

  • Confirm you are connected to the right ARchitect site (see Switch sites).

  • Check that you can see the same records when you sign in to ARchitect directly.

  • Try a broader question: remove a filter, widen the date range, or use part of a name instead of the full name.

The answer looks incomplete

Results are returned in pages, and long text is trimmed. Ask ChatGPT to "get the next page" or "show the full record" for the item you need.

Frequently asked questions

What ARchitect data can ChatGPT access?

Only the data listed under Supported ARchitect data, and only the records your ARchitect account can see on the site you connected to.

Can ChatGPT change my ARchitect data?

No. The connector is read-only. ChatGPT cannot create, edit, or delete records in ARchitect.

Why do I need Developer Mode?

ARInsights is added to ChatGPT as a custom connector, and ChatGPT requires Developer Mode for custom connectors.

Can other people in my workspace see my results?

No. Each person signs in with their own ARchitect account, and their chats stay in their own ChatGPT account unless they share them.

Is my ARchitect data used to train ChatGPT?

How OpenAI uses conversation data depends on your ChatGPT plan and data controls. Business, Enterprise, and Edu workspaces are not used for training by default. See OpenAI's privacy policy and your ChatGPT data controls for details.

What does ARInsights log when I use the connector?

ARInsights records which tools are called, the filters used, and a short description of what you asked for, so we can support you and improve the connector. If you ask for something the connector can't do yet, ChatGPT may send ARInsights a short description of that request. See the ARInsights privacy policy for how this information is stored and retained.

Can I see custom fields?

Yes, for interactions, insights, and projects. Ask ChatGPT to include custom fields in its answer.

Does the connector work on mobile?

Connectors are set up on ChatGPT on the web.

Can I ask for something the connector doesn't support?

Yes. ChatGPT will tell you if the information isn't available, and your request helps us decide what to add next. You can also send feature requests to your Customer Success Manager.
